Two cycle engines – the kind that power most small lawnmowers – guzzle gasoline, generate a lot of noise and can emit as much pollution into the air as a typical commercial delivery truck. These stinkers can exacerbate health problems such as asthma and even contribute to lung cancer and heart disease.
Electric mowers are quieter and emit only a fraction of the pollutants of their gasoline cousins, but purchase prices can be steep. Of course, you can cut your lawn while you cut out pollutants, pay nothing for fuel and get healthy exercise all at the same time. (Check with your doctor). The 18″ reel mower from Mascot seems to be the ‘reel’ thing!
