Keeping indoor air free from toxins is essential for good health, and the best way to do that is to buy safe, VOC-free and fragrance-free cleaning and home furnishing products. But a good air filtration system can also be part of the solution. The two most common systems available today are HEPA air filter systems and electrostatic air cleaners. HEPA filters remove more than 99% of particulates like pollen and dust, but the filters must be changed regularly to remain effective. Electrostatic systems used charged plates instead of filters but the plates need to be taken out and washed. Neither of these technologies removes chemicals or odors: the addition of a carbon filter or UV to the system can help with that. You can learn more about these systems here.
