The Foundation
The Helping to Heal Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization with a mission to print and distribute the book Helping to Heal to parents caring for children who are fighting serious illness.
In 2012, the Foundation introduced and made the book available free of charge to parents and caregivers through hospitals and other recognized health institutions – and over 75,000 copies of this essential guide have been distributed since then. Beginning January 2018, individuals can request a free book, as well. This outreach is made possible through generous donations and fundraising efforts by individuals and family foundations, and we are forever grateful for their support.
The Author
Patricia (Patti) Wood is the founder and Executive Director of Grassroots Environmental Education, a not-for-profit environmental health organization located in Port Washington and White Plains, NY. The organization uses science-driven arguments for clean air, clean water, and a safe food supply to educate the public about the links between common environmental exposures and human health.

A Visiting Scholar at Adelphi University, Ms. Wood lectures on the environment and related health issues in the College of Nursing and Public Health, and advocates for stricter regulation of non-ionizing radiation and chemical toxins.

Ms. Wood is the creator of The ChildSafe School, a program which promotes and provides a framework for a comprehensive approach to reducing environmental toxins in schools, and the BabySafe Project which warns pregnant women of the hazards associated with exposure to wireless radiation. Patti was the recipient of the national EPA’s Children’s Environmental Health Excellence Award in 2016.
